Effective May 1, 2024, LeClair is now a General Agency for UnitedHealthcare group plans. This increased level of partnership offers agents enhanced services, training, and commissions.
When working with group clients, please make sure that employee enrollments are sent in within the group's eligibility period for new hires. If this data comes in late, the carrier may deny coverage.
Now is the perfect time to reconnect with your group coverage representative (i.e. HR or hiring manager) to remind them of the required timeframe to submit new hire applications for coverage.
The Affordable Care Act imposes a fee on issuers of specified health insurance policies and plan sponsors of applicable self-insured health plans to help fund the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).
Level funded plan sponsors will receive a PCORI membership report that includes the plan’s monthly membership calculations using two allowable counting methods. Plan sponsors must determine the counting method they wish to use and then complete and file IRS Form 720 as well as submit the PCORI fee to the IRS by July 31, 2024.

We may have changes to group benefits in 2025. The Inflation Reduction Act, inflation and CMS rules may lead to higher premiums and changing benefits. This will be a perfect opportunity to get information directly from some of our top carrier partners, including Benafica, Allstate, BCBS, Engage PEO, Medica, Principal, and UHC.
The workshop will begin with Benafica demonstrating its new ICHRA platform followed by 5- to 8-minute talks from other carriers about group benefits and their offerings. Each carrier will then be available for networking and individual questions and discussion. The workshop will conclude with Allstate representatives giving a one-hour CE session about level funding.

Should moderately high net worth couples take action today to shelter a significant amount from estate tax (under the $13.61 million exemption) by making a large gift; or should they hold off making a large gift and hope that the value of their estate stays under what is likely to be a much smaller exemption in the future?
